Branches, districts and levels
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Movo organizes your organization in levels, the same way you do. Each person sees their own part of it, and anyone who looks after more than one area can switch between them.
The levels
Most organizations have three levels:
- Organization: everything, from the top.
- Branch: a group of locations, like a region.
- Location: one place families join, with its own programs, schedule and leaders.
Some organizations have another level, like districts, between branches and locations. Many use their own words for each level, and Movo uses those words everywhere.
Every family belongs to a location. People see their own level and everything below it: an admin sees the whole organization, someone who looks after a branch sees its locations, and someone who looks after one location sees just that location. See Who can see what.
See which area you're looking at
At the top of the page, next to the date, Movo shows the area you're looking at, like All locations or a branch's name. Every page shows only that area's families and numbers.
Switch to another area
Click that name, or press ⌘J (Ctrl+J on Windows). A list of everything you can see opens. Type to search by name or city, then click the area you want.
You can also click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Switch workspace.
If you only look after one location, there's nothing to switch to, so you won't see this.
Go back
While you're looking at a smaller area, a strip at the top says so. Click the button on it to step back up a level.
The web address changes with the area, so you can share a link that opens exactly what you're looking at.
Changing your structure
Admins for the whole organization can add, rename and remove branches and locations in Settings. If you're not sure how your structure should look, click Get help and we'll set it up with you.
