Uploading photos or scans of paper sign-up sheets
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Collected names on paper at an event? You don't need to type them up. Scan the sheet, upload it, and Movo reads the handwriting for you. You check anything it wasn't sure about before anyone is texted.
What works
Movo reads a table: a sign-up sheet with one row per family, and columns like parent name, child's name, phone and email. A sheet that runs over several pages is fine, as long as each page has the same headings.
A separate paper form for each family won't work, because there's no table to read. Add those families one at a time with Add a family on the audience page.
Turn your photos into a PDF
Movo takes PDF files, not photos. Your phone can make one:
- iPhone: open the Files app, tap the three dots at the top, and choose Scan Documents. It saves a PDF.
- Android: open Google Drive, tap the plus button, then Scan. It saves a PDF to your Drive.
- A scanner: save the scan as a PDF.
Lay the sheet flat in good light and fill the frame with it. Keep the file under 10 MB. A normal scan is plenty: a very high-resolution one only takes longer to read.
Upload it
Upload the PDF the same way you'd import any list: open an audience and click Import from file. See Importing a list of families.
Reading handwriting takes a few minutes, so leave the page open while Movo works.
Check what Movo read
Movo shows your sheet as a table. Cells it wasn't sure about are marked in red, and a note above the table says how many.
To compare with the paper, hover over a red cell and click the magnifying glass. Movo shows you that spot on your scan.
If Movo got it wrong, click the cell and type the right value. A red cell isn't always wrong: if it matches the paper, leave it.
If a row came through that isn't a family, like a blank line or stray printed text from the sheet, click the bin next to it.
Finish the import
Then carry on as you would with any list: pick a location if Movo asks, check the review and confirm. See Importing a list of families.
