What languages Movo speaks
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Movo texts and emails in whatever language a family writes in. On phone calls it speaks English and Spanish. Your team doesn't need to speak the family's language: Movo translates both ways.
Texts and email
When a family writes in another language, Movo replies in that language, and keeps using it for the rest of the conversation. This works for the languages families use most, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean, Arabic, French, Hindi, Portuguese and Russian.
Movo's first message to a new family is in English. As soon as the family replies in another language, Movo switches.
Phone calls
Movo speaks English and Spanish on calls. For any other language, texting works best, because that's where Movo can use the family's own language.
Reading and replying as your team
When you open a conversation, messages in another language are already translated into English for you. Click View original under a message to see exactly what was sent.
When you reply to that family yourself, write in English. A note above the box says Will be translated to Spanish, or whichever language they use, and Movo sends your message in their language.
Recording a family's language
If you know which language a family prefers, record it on the parent's card.
- Go to Families and click the family's name. You can also open them from Conversations.
- The family's page opens on the Overview tab. Under Household there's a card for each person. Find the parent's card, and click More at the bottom of it.
- A Preferences section opens at the bottom of the card. Click the box under Language and pick their language. It saves straight away.
Movo uses it on phone calls from then on.
Movo also sets this for you when a family speaks Spanish on a call, or fills in a Spanish version of your website form.
