Alerts when a new family comes in or a family registers

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Movo can tell you when a new family comes into your unit, and when a family registers with your unit. You choose a text, an email, or both. Both alerts start off, so you only get them if you turn them on.

Your unit is the group, class or location you're assigned to in Movo.

The two alerts

  • A new family comes in: Movo sends a family its first message for your unit. That could be a family who asked about your unit online, or one from a list someone uploaded. You don't get this one for a family that is already registered.

  • A family registers: a family registers with your unit. You also get this one for a family that is already registered when it comes into Movo.

Everyone assigned to your unit who turns an alert on gets it.

Turning them on

Click Settings at the bottom of the menu on the left, then click Notifications.

Find A new family comes in and A family registers. Turn on Text, Email, or both for each one. Each switch saves straight away.

If the Text switches are greyed out, add and verify your mobile number first. See Getting texts instead of emails. If there is no Text column at all, your organization only sends these alerts by email.

What the alerts look like

Texts are short. They name your unit, never the family. For example:

"Hey Jordan, it's Movo with Riverside Youth Club. A new family entered Movo for Riverside Juniors. See them here: https://app.trymovo.ai/..."

"Hey Jordan, it's Movo with Riverside Youth Club. A family registered with Riverside Juniors. See them here: https://app.trymovo.ai/..."

Tap the link to see the family in Movo. You can read the conversation and step in at any time. The emails say the same thing, with a See the family button.

When they arrive

  • Emails come right away.

  • Movo only texts between 9am and 9pm. An alert outside those hours is not texted, so turn on Email too if you want every one.

  • You get at most 50 texts and 50 emails an hour. If a big list of families comes in at once, you get the first ones, and the rest still show in Movo.

  • You get each alert once per family.

Don't see these alerts in Settings?

  • They only show for people assigned to a unit. People who look after a whole area, like district or organization staff, don't get them.

  • They are being turned on one organization at a time, so yours may not have them yet.
